Fostering a love of reading and its rewards, the Barnes & Noble Imagination's Destination Summer Reading Program is popular with students in first through sixth grades and educators throughout America.
Participation is a fun and easy way for kids to earn free books. They simply read any eight books – library books, books borrowed from friends or books bought at Barnes & Noble – write about their favorite part in our Reading Journal, and bring a completed Reading Journal to a Barnes & Noble bookstore. Children then choose their free book from the books listed on the Reading Journal and collect their free book from a store near them.
This year, Barnes & Noble is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Summer Reading Program with a special Summer Reading Triathlon that kicks off with an “Opening Ceremony” at all stores nationwide June 4. Between June 4 and August 21, young readers can vote for their favorite heroes and places from a selection of contenders curated by B&N booksellers. At the “Closing Ceremony” August 27, kids can find out which favorite hero and place took home the gold, silver and bronze medal. View the press release for more information.
